Looking to serve a refreshing twist or something a little different to serve at your next brunch or special occasion? This Grapefruit Mimosa recipe is the perfect bubbly cocktail to serve at any time of the year! Using grapefruit juice is a refreshing twist on a traditional orange juice champagne cocktail, which is the perfect brunch cocktail!

Why you’ll love this grapefruit mimosa

  • So easy to make! You don’t need a long list of ingredients for this perfect cocktail nor do you have to buy expensive champagne for this simple cocktail. And, by simply swapping out for a different kind of citrus juice, it just makes it extra special!
  • Perfect for any occasion. This delicious mimosa is the perfect pairing for any special event, like mother’s day brunch, a bridal shower, valentine’s day, a lazy weekend brunch or a fabulous addition to wedding showers.
  • Make a mimosa bar! Don’t want to spend time making cocktails at brunch? Set out all the ingredients that you need, like fresh juice in a large pitcher, any type of champagne or bubbles and your garnishes. You can even set out a little menu to let your guests know how to make the cocktail! For example, 1 part champagne to two parts juice…or vice versa! Let your guests make their own bubbly cocktail!
  • Don’t spend too much on expensive wine. When it comes to a delicious mimosa, you don’t need to go all out and spend too much. I always say drink good champagne on its own, don’t mix it with traditional orange juice for a classic mimosa. Instead of an expensive bottle of champagne, go for prosecco or a Cava.

Grapefruit Mimosa Ingredients

  • Fresh grapefruit juice or store-bought grapefruit juice
  • Sparkling wine of your choice, like Prosecco or Cava.
  • 1/2 oz of an orange liqueur, like Triple Sec or Grand Marnier
  • Grapefruit slices, for garnish
  • Fresh rosemary, for garnish
  • simple syrup, optional if you prefer your mimosa’s on the sweeter side. You can also find a list of substitutes for simple syrup here!

To make a non-alcoholic version of this cocktail, simply replace the sparkling wine with club soda.

Top tips on making the best Mimosas

  • If you want to make the freshest Pink Grapefruit Mimosa, I suggest making your own fresh grapefruit juice rather than store-bought. To do this, you’ll need 3-4 large grapefruits to make a pitcher.
  • My favourite tip is adding my champagne glasses to the freezer for at least 30 minutes before serving! That way this delicious mimosa is extra cold!

Best Wine for Mimosas

When choosing your wine, opt for a bubbly dry wine, like dry champagne or Cava. This will help balance out the tartness of the juice. You can even use rosé Champagne for an extra pink hue!

How to make the best Grapefruit Mimosa

  1. To your chilled champagne-style flutes, add 2 oz of grapefruit juice, then 1/2 oz of the orange liquor, and top with 4 oz of sparkling wine. Optional: add 1/2 oz of simple syrup if you prefer your cocktails on the sweeter side. A small hint of sweetener is always lovely!
  2. Garnish with a slice of grapefruit and a sprig of fresh rosemary.

Variations of Mimosas

When it comes to this classic cocktail, the possibilities are endless. Especially heading into the Holidays, I love substituting orange or grapefruit juice with cranberry juice, or making a pomegranate mimosa, swapping with fresh lime juice and pineapple juice in the summer or even Guava juice for a tropical twist. Basically, most citrus fruit will work in a mimosa, so get creative!
