Why you’ll love this delicious pear bread recipe…

  • This quick bread recipe is a great way to use up some overripe pears, as well as bananas. You can use whatever pears you have on hand or whatever you can find at the grocery store. I’ve made this recipe with both anjou pears and well as bosc pears.
  • While this would be considered a sweet bread, it’s still one of my favourite healthy recipes. I tired to use minimal brown sugar, and used some honey instead for a healthier alternative. Also, by adding chunks of pear…you can really taste the natural sweetness of pear come through in every bite.
  • Not a fan or pears? A terrific substitute is to use apples! Subbing pears with apples will give just as much natural sweetness and give this pear bread recipe an extra bite! You could even use a mix of the two!
  • Make this pear bread recipe extra delicious by adding a bite of homemade granola on top of the batter before placing into the oven. I just adds the perfect crunch, and looks beautiful too!

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, salt, and baking soda. Whisk to combine.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, add the melted butter to the brown sugar, and whisk to get these two ingredients well combined. Then add in the vanilla, honey, egg, and mashed bananas. Whisk again.
  4. Gradually add in the flour mixture to the wet ingredients in the large bowl. Mix until well incorporated with a wooden spoon or metal spoon. You can also use an electric mixer.
  5. Next, we are going to add the remaining ingredients to the banana mixture. Add the diced pears as well as the white chocolate chips.
  6. In a prepared pan lined with parchment paper, transfer the batter into the loaf tin. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a tooth pic to cake tester comes out clean after being inserted to the middle of the pear banana bread.
  7. Allow to cool to room temperature on a wire rack before trying to remove the loaf from the tin.

Serve at room temperature or toast for crispy edges and a warm gooey center. Store in an airtight container or fully wrapped in plastic wrap for 4-5 days in the fridge. You can also store it in the freezer for up to three months in an airtight freezer-safe container.
