This is such a simple ingredient that’s a game-changer in many dishes. You can make the most decadent garlic bread (like I did here), use it for the most delicious garlic shrimp, savoury garlic potatoes, tasty roasted veggies (like carrots) and as a spread in elevated sandwiches.
This isn’t just any garlic butter, this is caramelized. This means the garlic was cooked down in butter at a low temperature for a long period. What you get is incredible garlic butter which is sweet and mellow. I dare you to put this in as many dishes as possible. You’ll be amazed how it can bring a dish to a whole new level.
INGREDIENTS:
-
1 large garlic head, cloves peeled
-
1/2 cup of butter
-
1 tbsp of olive oil
DIRECTIONS:
-
In a small saucepan, add your butter and oil and cook on medium heat.
-
Once you have peeled your garlic cloves, “smash” them by pressing down on the cloves with a side of your knife to crush them.
-
Once your butter is melted and bubbling, turn the heat down to a gentle simmer and add your smashed garlic cloves.
-
Cook for 45 minutes (stirring regularly) until cloves turn a dark golden colour.
-
Remove from heat and let sit for 10 minutes.
-
Using your mixing spoon, try to break up the garlic chunks in half.
-
Pour into a glass jar and store in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
The butter will harden in the fridge, so let the butter sit a room temperature a little before using.
