Ever crave a little dessert after dinner but you have nothing on hand? Yeah, me too.
This is such an easy dessert to whip up in just a few minutes, with just a few ingredients. One of the most practical things that I always keep in my freezer is a few sheets of puff pastry. I try to always make everything from scratch but the pastry is the one thing I will always cut corners with. It just saves so much time.
To top off this little perfect dessert, I added some Caramel Sauce. You can find that recipe here. It’s so easy to make and can be done within 5 minutes. It’s so good that you will want to put it on everything. Perfect on top of ice cream, yogurt & granola, cake, muffins, pancakes….shall I go on?
INGREDIENTS:
-
1/4 cup of sugar
-
1 tsp of cinnamon
-
1 sheet of puff pastry
-
2 medium-sized apples
-
2 tbsp of melted butter
-
caramel sauce, to drizzle or dip in (recipe here)
DIRECTIONS:
-
Preheat oven to 425 F.
-
Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside.
-
Unroll a sheet of thawed puff pastry and using a pizza cutter (or knife), slice the sheet into thin strips…about 1/2 an inch.
-
Cut the apples into 8 wedges and toss with the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
-
Wrap each apple wedge with a strip of puff pastry.
-
Place the apple wedges on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
-
Brush each apple wedge some of the melted butter.
-
Bake for 15 minutes or until the pastry turns golden brown.
Serve with caramel sauce drizzled on top or on the side as a dipping sauce.
