It’s soon burger season, so I am celebrating with this Caramelized Onion, crumbled Blue Cheese and Arugula burger. Yes, that is 3 of my favourite things in one delicious burger.
I made my own patties and they are filled with diced onion, garlic and some BBQ sauce that kept it perfectly juicy while cooking.
INGREDIENTS:
For the patties:
-
500g of ground beef
-
3 garlic cloves, chopped
-
1/2 white onion, chopped
-
1 egg, beaten
-
2 tbsp of BBQ sauce
-
1 tsp of salt
-
1 tsp of pepper
For the Caramelized Onions:
-
1 red onion, thinly sliced
-
1 tbsp of butter
-
pinch of salt
For the burger:
-
2 oz of Blue Cheese, crumbled
-
handful of arugula
-
2 tbsp of mayonnaise
DIRECTIONS:
-
In a large mixing bowl, add your ground beef, chopped onion and garlic, salt, pepper, egg and BBQ sauce. Mix well to get all the ingredients combined.
-
Using your hands, shape the mixture into 4 burger patties. Set aside.
-
Add the sliced onion, butter and pinch of salt to a medium-sized frying pan. Cook the onions on medium heat until caramelized. About 10-15 minutes; stirring constantly (can be prepared in advance).
-
Preheat your BBQ on Medium-High until temperature reaches approximately 375 degrees F. Once the temperature is reached, cook paddies for 6-7 minutes (flipping halfway through).
-
On toasted buns, add 1/2 tbsp of mayonnaise on each bottom bun. Top with a handful of arugula.
-
Once patties are cooked, add on top of the arugula. Top with the caramelized onions and crumbled blue cheese.
Enjoy!
