I can’t believe that summer is already winding down and that there are only a few more cocktails left to the Summer Sippers series. It’s been so fun creating cocktails every week and seeing you guys follow along and making your own.

This cocktail is the perfect August cocktail. I have been wanting to use more sage since there is so much of it growing in the garden. While my basil and mint have had a rough time with the last few heat waves, sage has been thriving. I never really know what to do with sage, so I have a couple of recipes coming up in the next weeks using sage (since I don’t want to waste it).

This cocktail is quite earthy, but I love the sage and blackberry combo. I do have to warn you, this cocktail is a little bit sourer…so if that is your jam, you will love this one.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 blackberries

  • 4 fresh sage leaves

  • juice of 1/2 a lime

  • 2 oz of Aperol or Campari

  • Prosecco

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a cocktail shaker, add your blackberries, sage, lime juice, and Aperol / Campari.

  2. Add a handful of ice, and shake.

  3. Strain the contents of your shaker into a cocktail glass of your choice.

  4. Top with some Prosecco and enjoy.
