Our girl Chloé turned two in November and I baked her this cute little cake to celebrate. It’s always nice spoiling your little fur baby, and since we missed her first birthday (Oops)…we had to make this year more special.
All the ingredients in this cake are natural and dog safe. Although, it’s SO IMPORTANT to choose natural and organic products to make sure you avoid any fillers they hide in there. Some of them can be toxic for your pet…
Please stick with organic and natural ingredients. It’s not worth getting your dog sick to save a few dollars.
The best part of this dessert is that you can also enjoy a slice too! All the flavours are quite simple and taste pretty good, especially if you are a fan of peanut butter!
Ingredients:
-
1/3 cup of 100% pure peanut butter
-
1/2 cup of unsweetened apple sauce
-
1/2 cup of 100% pumpkin puree (not canned pumpkin pie mix)
-
3 tbsp of vegetable oil
-
1 egg, beaten
-
1 cup of flour
-
1/2 tsp of baking soda
For the Icing:
-
1/2 cup of plain Greek-style yogurt
-
1/4 cup of 100% pure peanut butter
Directions:
-
Preheat oven to 350F and in a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour and baking soda.
-
Add in the vegetable oil, pumpkin puree, peanut butter and egg. Mix with a wooden spoon and get all of the ingredients combined.
-
Grease a 9-inch cake pan with some vegetable oil and pour the batter in.
-
Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean after inserting into the middle.
-
Allow cooling completely.
-
For the icing, simply combine the yogurt and peanut butter in a small bowl and spread on top of the cake. Top with some of your puppy’s favourite treats if desired.
The cake must be kept in the fridge due to the yogurt icing. Best eaten within 24 hours of baking the cake.
