Who doesn’t love caramel sauce? I love a good drizzle of it on my favourite Fall baked goods. It pairs perfectly with apples….which you can tell by now is my favourite Autumn ingredient to bake with.

It also keeps well in the fridge in an airtight jar or container. It will firm up in the fridge, but let it sit at room temperature for a bit and it will liquify. You can also run the jar under warm water for a minute or two and you are all set for that perfect drizzle.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup of brown sugar

  • 8 tbsp of butter

  • 4 tbsp of milk (dairy-free alternatives work great)

  • 1 tsp of vanilla

  • pinch of sea salt

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a small saucepan; add the sugar, butter, milk and sea salt. Bring to a medium boil.

  2. Once bubbling, turn down the heat to medium-low and let simmer for about 5 minutes…or until mixture has thickened.

It’s ready to be served straight away. To store, let cool slightly and pour into a jar. This will keep for up to two weeks in the fridge.
